Feature length film

Postby The 3D Advantage » Mon Feb 15, 2010 12:22 am

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum but I've been using Blender for about two years now.
I've been able to complete several commercial projects including creating a new seal for the country of Liberia, using Blender almost exclusively.
I recently finished my first science fiction novel and I hope to eventually make it into an animated movie using Blender. I've started experimenting with voice actors and models. Nothing impressive yet but you can see I've made some progress. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWr8K8dFNw4
If you are interested in helping with this project feel free to email me at the3dadvantage@gmail
I've worked through several issues with Blender through painstaking trial and error so I hope I can contribute some of what I've learned making the learning process easier for others. Email me with questions if you like.
Thanks everyone
Rich

Welcome to the forum!

Wow, your work looks great! Did you produce all those commercials with Blender? It would be nice if you mention that on your youtube uploads, if so. The community seems to be growing steadily, but additional nourishment is certainly welcome. The movie project is likewise inspiring, even at this incipient stage, and looks quite interesting. Also, please consider posting the link to your work in the Works In Progress section. I've no doubt it would be very inspiring to others as well. Again, welcome!

I thought that animation was pretty impressive! nice job 3dadvantage! I would love to help contribute to your film - though I'm not sure how much help I'll be considering your impressive work. I've only been using blender for about a month or so, but i'm getting faster with the modeling part of it. let me know if i can help.

Just FYI, all the stuff you see on my youtube channel was made with Blender, a little Photoshop, Gimp, Soundbooth etc. But the modeling, animation, final video output and all the effects were done with Blender and extensive use of Blender's video sequencer. I will be sure to update the video comments to include this information.

I have been taking advantage of Blender for several commercial projects and I am slowly and steadily growing in the number of my loyal clients. I'm increasingly feeling the need to contribute to the Blender community as token of my appreciation.

The movie project is really too big for me, but that hasn't stopped me in the past. For the people who have expressed an interest in being part of it (mostly people who want to do voice acting) I've been sending out a Word document of the novel the movie is based on. I'm in the process of the final edit of the novel for now and I think My wife will strangle me if I send it to anyone else before the final edit. For blender artist who want to contribute: there is a scene that includes freaky creatures of every description imaginable. What this means is, if you have a freaky creature I can most likely use it in the scene. The more freaky creatures the better.

Should it be an organic type or robot like? or doesn't it matter? I'll try my hand at modeling one.

The premise of the novel includes bio-mechanical creatures, but the scene I'm referring to should probably stick with organic, or organic mixed with machines. Creepy and grotesque is acceptable but weird is good too. The creatures are meant to be metaphors for human emotions, if that helps any.

I really liked the clip from the Collision that you posted. I commented there a little more at length.
I'd be interested in auditioning as a voice actor, although I do have a few aliens handy (non-humanoid, but organic...) if you want a few extras...
